With the following types of scheduling:
1.
WEEKEND INTENSIVE WORKSHOP Designed for students traveling to the area for the course, or for local residents who would rather take a weekend course than commit to a weekly class schedule.
Friday 7pm - 9pm Studio tour, safety practices; introduction to materials and use of tools, and discussion of design parameters, including various opus, andamento, grout lines, composition and color selection. After class, students will consider their design and have some sketches to bring to the next session.
Saturday 10am - 4pm Finalize design with help of instructor, choose materials and get started. Instructor will be available through out the day to provide help and support to each individual student. Lunch is on your own whenever you choose to take it, but tea and treats will be served at 4pm.
Sunday 10am - 2pm Continue work under guidance of instructor. Because most adhesives should be given several days to cure before grouting, students will not have an opportunity to grout during class time. Instead, there will be a grouting demonstration and students will leave with written grouting instructions and a packet of grout to complete their project as well as information for sealing and finishing the work for display or use.
For those traveling to the area for the workshop, many types of accommodations are available in the beautiful Northeast Kingdom Region of Vermont, which is a prime tourist destination. Please feel free to request information on lodging and dining in the area.
2.
FOUR WEEK COURSE Designed for local residents who prefer shorter sessions and can commit to a month-long series of classes. Classes are held on a regular day of the week, such as every Monday or every Thursday as works out best for the majority of students interested. Classes are held on various days throughout the year.
First Class Session 7pm - 9pm Studio tour, safety practices; introduction to materials and use of tools, and discussion of design parameters, including various opus, andamento, grout lines, composition and color selection. After class, students will consider their design and have some sketches to bring to the next session.
Second Class Session 7pm - 9pm Finalize design with help of instructor, choose materials and get started. Instructor will be available through out the day to provide help and support to each individual student.
Third Class Sesson 7pm - 9pm Continue working on piece with help of instructor with the goal of completing it by the next session. Some "home work" may be required to complete the piece before the last session if you wish to be ready to grout.
Fourth Class Session 7pm - 9pm After a short grouting demonstration, students will grout their pieces with instructions on how to seal and display them once they are completed.
3.

Examples of special projects include creating a kitchen backsplash, a patio table or a wall mural.
