STUDIO FRESCA: some old stuff...fresh new ARTitude
Salvaged mirror hand cut into heart shape
2008
A large piece of broken mirror, salvaged from a back alleyway in town, was hand cut with a glass blade into a 12" x 12" heart shape to serve as the center piece of the mosaic. Cutting salvaged materials can be tricky and is always a bit of an adventure because once things have been "used" they often have unseen fractures and stress points that cause carefully made cuts to go along the already existing fractures rather than in the direction the artist has in mind. I was hugely relieved when this damaged mirror cut so cleanly!
