INFINITELY ACQUAINTED - WIP - cutting the mirror substrate
This is very thin mirror salvaged from the recycling center and peeled off the little sliding doors of one of those old medicine cabinets ca. about 1970. I cut my substrate to size (6" x 6") using a standard glass cutter. The mirror will serve as the base of the piece. I am using mirror because my concept calls for the viewer to be able to see their own reflection in parts of the piece and because mirror reflects light back out of the stained glass and gives it more vibrancy than when glued onto a plain wood substrate. Doesn't that piece of paper backing on the top of the scrap piece look a little bit like a bird in flight!
