This particular piece, depicting an abstract rendering of the sea meeting the shore was inspired by my husband's love of surfing. He claims there is a special point of harmony where the sea, sky and shore come together to create ridable waves and that riding those waves allows him to be part of that rhythm, if only for a few minutes. Since I don't surf, I have spent many hours on the shore, waiting...watching...and collecting gobs of gorgeous sea glass and sea shells. I wanted to somehow put all of that together into a circular piece that represents the circular, rhythmic nature of the elements my husband is so enamored with. If you look carefully, you may be able to see the elements harmonize into the hint of a human form...
MATERIALS: scrap stained glass; genuine, hand collected Kauai beach glass and sea shells; sanded grout; on recycled pyrex microwave turntable. Size: 14 diameter
